About Fellowship
The KAUST Global Fellowship Program aims to attract and support outstanding emerging research leaders and scientists from around the world to pave the way for fully independent careers. The program inspires a younger generation of scientists and engineers to explore opportunities that address global challenges and benefit humanity. This outcomes-based program is designed to target outstanding postdoctoral researchers with ground breaking ideas that can complement, support, foster and advance KAUST’s key research priorities. In our “research first” environment, current and future Global Fellows have full access to key research tools, equipment, unparalleled facilities and expertise needed to achieve their research ambitions, with strong support from a community of excellence.

Application Eligibility Criteria
Must have completed her PhD within 4 calendar years (i.e. 2024 applicants must have completed their PhD after January 2020).
- must expect to complete her PhD before the fellowship begins.
- Must be willing to move to KAUST to complete the proposed 3-year research project.
- Your application must identify a KAUST faculty member who has confirmed and agreed to host them and their research project if successful.
- Anyone of any nationality is welcome to apply. We encourage women to apply to promote greater gender balance in science.
- To qualify for residency, candidates must meet all requirements for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Proposal Eligibility Criteria
- Focus on one or more of KAUST’s research priorities, such as Health and Well-being, Sustainable Environment and Basic Needs, Energy and Industry Leadership, or Future Economy.
- Develop a three-year plan.
- Follow the budget and financial guidelines in the RFP.
- Use the template provided.
- The KAUST Global Fellowship Program supports research projects that align with programs in three academic departments at KAUST

Application Guideline
- Applications must be written in English using the template provided and submitted through the online application form.
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
- All applications must have all required documentation to be reviewed by the deadline.
- Applicants and their reviewers must log in to the PlutoEdu platform to access the system and submit the required documentation.

- Two publications (appendix)
- Research proposal (template)
- Letter from KAUST host PI (template)
- Two letters of recommendation, which must be obtained directly or endorsed by the reviewers.
